This is a brief and simplified explanation of how domain names work, and why EasyWebDNS is of the highest quality despite being a cheap domain name provider. At the top of the pyramid, giving away Domain top level extensions to companies to manage is the ICANN, the ICANN gives the .COM TLD (Extension) to Verisign, to keep the example brief, we will assume we are only talking about .COM domain names, but the same applies to other TLDs such as .NET, .ORG, etc... So the ICANN delegates the authority over .COM domain names to VeriSign, Verisign is above all registrars when talking about .COM Domains, for VeriSign prices to registrars click here So, assuming you visit easywebdns.com and buy yourname.com, EasyWebDNS will now notify (Automatically) Verisign that the domain name (example.com) has been registered, and should point to the nameservers NS1.MYWEBHOST.COM AND NS2.MYWEBHOST.COM, verisign updates the records for the domain name, and now the 2 nameservers listed above are the ones responsible for the domain name example.com So assuming someone visits example.com, how does it work. The visitor's DNS resolver will ask VeriSign's root nameservers (Where do i go for example.com), the root nameservers will tell the resolver that NS1.MYWEBHOST.COM AND NS2.MYWEBHOST.COM are the nameservers responsible for this domain, the resolver will then go and ask the nameservers listed for directions, and if those nameservers are configured to answer authoritatively for the domain, will point your resolver to the server hosting this website. So, what difference exists between registrars, And why i should chose EasyWebDNS?1- Price, although the main product is the tool allowing you to modify records at VeriSign's root servers, they charge different prices for it, EasyWebDNS charges a low price for the most convenient and complete tools. |
